Upholstered Headboards - to style and complete a bedroom
A lovely bedside vignette, feeling complete and cozy with the ticking stripe headboard!
In interior design we always need a focal point to anchor and define a space. Sometimes the bedroom gets sloppy or forgotten about, and never really ‘finished’
This is sort of why we love to bask at boutique hotels. Why do we love hotels or say: ‘I want my room to have that hotel feeling’? Well… I think it’s because we come into the room, see the bed as a focal point, the room is clean and functional and you can plop your bag down, turn on the tv and chill out. It’s really quite simple, there are defined spaces and a main focal point- the bed! When you think of a hotel room it’s usually pure function. A desk space, closet space, side tables, and usually quite simple and neutral colour palettes to appeal to the masses.
Why not take the cues from how a hotel lays out a room but then inject your own taste or style.
For this reason, I want to introduce my shaped upholstered headboards. If you want a focal point but with your own style, it’s a simple way to complete your room and make it the beautiful and stylish chill out zone you never thought you could have.
A close up shot of the headboard with matching piping. It sits flush against the wall because I make a frame on the back to allow for the depth of the French cleat to sit within the back of the headboard, therefore no air gap at the wall.
You pick your favourite shape, your fabric, even a contrast piping if you wish (or keep it the same as the main fabric) and simply hang it up on the wall and your room now has clear direction, a cocooning zone just for you, as if you are off and away at a hotel room.
It’s a simple addition that makes huge impact and you will find your bedroom as the perfect refuge to restore and relax, head to bed early to read and the rest of the decorating is easy as there’s a clear focus and direction.
Without a headboard the room feels sloppy and unfinished. The after shows how much a headboard finishes a room and adds style. You will be inspired to finish decorating and styling your space when you get a headboard to complete the look!
